People are spiritual beings. While animals only care about filling their stomachs, finding shelter,
and reproducing, people are aware that there is more
to life than the material world. A full belly, a roof over our heads, and even
a house full of offspring don't satisfy us. People know instinctively that there is something higher.
The Chinese people have always been aware of the supernatural and have sought to get in touch with the spiritual world. Today many are interested in Qigong and other means of gaining more power. However, they have usually sought the help of spirits, gods, and other forces in obtaining good luck and more material possessions. This may help them obtain these things, but they are just another road to a dead end. They cannot bring true satisfaction. |

The Bible tells us that we were created by God to be his people. We can find purpose and
meaning in our life only when we have a relationship with him.
In another book of the Bible the Apostle Paul tells us:
"I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I consider them rubbish that I might gain Christ." (Philippians 3:8) Paul's happiness was independent of his material possessions. He went on to write: "I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." (Philippians 4:12) You can only be content and satisfied when you know the one true God who created you through his son, Jesus Christ. Everything else is garbage, a dead end. |
